There, the player meets a strange old man who gives them an icon of one of three creeds the player says they are a member of, helping them in their quest to find the lost princess. The player places this icon in the first Sanctuary and then continues exploring the island, gathering salt in order to gain power, as in this universe, There are two types of human: Saltborn and Lightborn. Saltborn are ostensibly largely composed of salt, while Lightborn are made out of light. Once a Saltborn dies, they will be sent to the Isle of Salt, while Lightborns will cease to exist. Lightborns can become gods, while Saltborns cannot (This is why the Nameless God imprisons The Three and steals their prayers). There, it is possible to meet several non-player characters with side stories, an unnamed Knight, Thief, and Sorcerer. The player also meets a highly sinister talking Scarecrow that threatens that they will perish.

In SALT AND SANCTUARY, you begin as shipwrecked sailor on a foggy mountain, who must claim sanctuary for his guild and try to strengthen its territorial holdings. Countless monsters stand between you and that goal. The world has lore and deep mythology -- and tons of environmental storytelling about what this world used to be like -- but you'll only uncover these details if you want to pay attention. There's an even deeper story here about the type of evil that took over, with you trying to restore peace and shift the balance in this land by spreading your chosen faith and destroying the monsters that populate the world.

This dramatic yet depressingly apt term has been given the job of informing you that you've just died, and it precedes yet more words that you'll also come to hate. Do not underestimate Salt and Sanctuary: it'll chew you up and spit you back out, drawing from From Software's modern action RPG blueprints and translating the hard-as-nails gameplay to two dimensions. It demands your attention, never holds your hand, and rewards your patience and skill. Some players will find the lack of information too obtuse and difficulty too harsh, and a few cheap enemies and well-hidden traps will certainly frustrate. For those willing to go the distance, however, this is an intricate and fulfilling game just waiting to be conquered. As far as Souls wannabes go, this is one that's certainly worth its salt.
@Quintumply More like 60+ hour's i've been at it for about 8-9 hour's and only on the 3rd boss I do like to take my time with game's like this though. I have gone for a strictly melee build though, my friend's rolled a mage and is finding it easier, I seem to spending all my skill point's in endurance so I can wear the level 2 heavy armour. Lot's of farming to be done to progress and much much MUCH salt needed to level up after around level's 25ish. This is an AAA game in disguise absolutely loving it.

Yes, Salt and Sanctuary treats salt like a currency that can be collected from enemies and invested in leveling up or weapon upgrades. And yes, you can lose all your salt for good if you die in the field and are unable to collect your remains before dying again. Players can choose from a number of classes, ranging from vanilla fighters to poison-immune chefs, but a sprawling skill tree lets them customize their character from there. Most Souls-ian of all, every action is constrained by a stamina bar which, though it can be expanded over the course of the game, is always finite.
Guilford Salt Meadows Audubon Sanctuary is located in Guilford, Connecticut along the East River, a tidal river that flows into Long Island Sound. The tidal wetlands that form the heart of the sanctuary are a remnant of the great salt and brackish water marshes that once extended nearly continuously along the Atlantic Coast from Maine to Georgia. These wetlands support specialized saltmarsh vegetation and animal life. They also provide vital refueling and nesting stops for thousands of migratory birds.
Guilford Salt Meadows Audubon Sanctuary provides 111 acres of critical habitat for increasingly rare saltmarsh-dependent species including the Saltmarsh Sparrow, which due to its limited range is a species of global conservation concern. It is only found nesting in a thin strip of coastal salt marshes from Maine to North Carolina, and considering the scarcity of this habitat, its entire breeding range is smaller in area than all of Connecticut. The lower reaches of the Guilford saltmarsh support one of the highest density populations of nesting Saltmarsh Sparrows found anywhere in the world.
The sanctuary can be viewed from the Anne Conover Nature Education Trail, a one-mile loop that is an easy walk for people of all ages. The sanctuary's nature trail is open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset.
Water Way Access on the East River: In addition to the sanctuary's walking trail, the Sanctuary can be viewed from the East River. Public access to the East River for canoes and kayaks is available from a State of Connecticut boat ramp off Neck Road in Madison or the Town of Guilford boat ramp off of Whitfield Street, both of which are located on the East River south of the sanctuary.
